Features
WinSecure
Lite can automatically encrypt your valuable data when you log out or
exit Windows. It also
decrypts the data automatically whenever you start up Windows.
All you have to do is to specify which files or folders in the
Automatic Encryption File Setup. WinSecure
Lite will do the rest for you without any hassle.
It
is also possible to encrypt your data manually by simply right clicking
on the target file and selecting Manual Encryption.
Since the encrypted data is executable for decryption only on the
PC system which you used for the encryption, you are assured that your
valuable data is completely safe with WinSecure Lite.
WinSecure
Lite also enables group encryption.
This function allows other users of WinSecure Lite (or other
WinSecure Series products) to exchange encrypted data by using a shared
group encryption key.
Setting
Files for Auto-Encryption / Decryption
From
the Windows "Start" menu, open "Programs", select
“WinSecure Lite" and click on "Auto-Encryption Setup".
If
you have set to use the Authentication Access Code during the
installation process (refer to 1.1), enter it here and press OK to
proceed.

Note:
If you did not set
up the "Authentication Access Code" during the installation
process, you will not be asked for it here.
The
Auto-encryption File List screen is displayed.
Here, you can choose the files and folders for automatic
encryption/decryption.

Click
the [Browse] button to search for and select the files or folders to be
encrypted.
Highlight
the file names, and click the [Select] button.
You will see the selected names in the file/folder name box.

Notes:
1. A filename wildcard (*.) is accepted. For example:
a)
C:/Documents and Settings/User/My Documents/*.*
All
documents in User’s My Documents folder will be encrypted.
b)
C:/Documents and Settings/User/Desktop/*.txt
All files with the extension “.txt” will be encrypted.
c)
C:/Documents and
Settings/User/My Documents/Private*
All files, regardless of type, with names that begin with Private,
will be encrypted.
2.
System folders
under the drive route and Windows (winnt)
can not be used.
3.
Any files or
folders which may effect Windows start-up should not be
selected,
including
applications
that my be saved in the Windows Startup folder.
Next,
with the radial button you can choose to compress the selected files and
folders. Your selection
will be shown in the Compression column in the list.

Note:
Compression enforces
encryption features and saves disc space. However, for larger
files, more time will be required for execution. The compression
format used for the encryption is LHA.
Next,
you can choose whether or not to Auto-Decrypt any particular file.
If
you choose to decrypt files automatically, your files will be
automatically decrypted upon logging in.
If you do not choose automatic decryption for a file, you must
decrypt that file manually when needed.
Next,
if necessary, type in the description of the file/folder where
"Description" is indicated.
When
the settings are set for a particular file, click [Add]
to add that file to the list.
The dialog box "Do you want to add the data?", will pop up to
confirm the addition. If
OK, click [OK].
You
will see file/folder names in the entry area.
To add another file to the auto-encrypt list, enter or browse for
the file or folder name and repeat the procedure above.
To
delete a file/folder name and/or its description from the list, select
the file/folder you want to delete and click [Delete].
When
you are finished, click [Set]
to start the
automatic encryption process.
Note: If a “Read Only” file is set for automatic encryption, it will be
changed to “Archive” mode during the encryption process.
The file will not be changed back to the original “Read
Only” mode after decryption.
Auto-Encryption
Shut Down method
Attention:
In
order to activate the automatic encryption process,
you
must shut down Windows using the WinSecure Lite shut down application.
From
the Start Menu, select "Shut Down… (WinSecure Lite
Auto-Encryption)". A
dialog box will appear giving you the options to Shut Down, Restart,
or Log Off, just like the regular Windows Shut Down method.
Remember
that Auto Encryption will NOT take place if the regular Windows Shut
Down, Restart, or Log Off method is used.

Once
Auto-Encryption process is completed, the normal Windows shutdown
process will resume.
Auto-Decryption
Auto-Decryption
is set up in the Auto-Encryption file list screen.
Simply select "Decrypt automatically" to activate
auto-decryption.
Once
you log into the computer, the system automatically starts decryption.
When you see that the auto-decryption is in process on the
screen, it is recommended that you do not start any other operations in
order to
avoid any impact on the decrypting files/folders.
You
will see the following dialog box if the destination folder already
contains a file which has the same name as the file you are decrypting.
If this is the case, please change the name of the file to be
decrypted and click [OK]
or cancel the
decryption process.

Note: If you click
[Cancel],
all
encrypted files will be deleted in the assumption that they do not
require decryption. If
you click [OK] and click [Cancel] in the
next [Do you want to save name] dialog box, all
encrypted files will be also deleted in the assumption that they do
not require decryption.
When
you are decrypting the compressed file, you
will be asked if you want to overwrite the file.
Specify how you want to overwrite or not and click [OK].

Note:
If
you choose "No" or "No to all" and click
[OK],
the dialog box [Do you want to change filename?] will be displayed.
