There are two types of e-gate. One is a USB token, and the other is a USB Cradle .
e-gate USB Token Type
Token type is very convenient to carry around. You can fit it in your pocket or wallet, or keep in your key chains. You take out the chip from the standard size Smart Card and insert into the e-gate token. If you keep it in the key chain, it would be your another key to your security.

e-gate USB Cradle
The e-gate Cradle offers a super-convenient feature: if your employee badges or access control cards are the same size, you can integrate these badges into your data access control Smart Card. This eliminates the need for multiple cards within the same company! Also suitable if using a desktop computer with USB connectors in the back.
