You gain the robust access control with the Anti-Pass Back feature of WinSecure EtherDoor:

If a user enters a secured area by "tail-gaiting" (following an authenticated user in to an area), EtherDoor can be set to apply multiple restrictions.

Prevention:

1.

The unauthorized user will not be able to leave the secured area, even if he is a regular user and tries to use his Smart Card or fingerprint.

Only users that are properly authenticated by EtherDoor on the way in are able to get out.  The EtherDoor system matches the enter/exit status of each individual, so that if there's no entry authentication record, the person is regarded as an intruder and is not authorized to get out.

2.

Only users authorized by EtherDoor on the way in are able to logon to the computers within the secure area.

Since EtherDoor ties in seamlessly with WinSecure Standard for desktop security, only users with proper entry/exit status can access the PCs in a secured area.

Response:

The system can be set to respond to such a situation in a variety of ways.

1.

When an intruder attempts to logon to a PC or attempts to leave the area, an alarm signal may be sent to the security officer or administrator.

The alarm may of course be silent or not, depending on your security policy.

2.

On access attempt, the room, section, department, or entire system may be temporarily locked down until the issue is resolved.

Seamless integration of physical and logical access control allows for robust security management of the entire system, all centrally controlled from one management console.

Below is a flow chart showing a "tail-gaiting" event of an enrolled, but not authorized user.

Unauthorized Entry (no log)
